It's amazing. We went to Rovaneimi for our honeymoon and planned one day stay at Santa Clause village. The place is very pretty and tailor made for children who've grown up listening to Santa stories. The cottages offered were very cozy. It's just 3km from the airport and they arrange pick up and drop so that saved our hassle of reaching the airport. Staying in the Santa Clause holiday Village allows you to be eligible for 10% discount for shopping shoveniers from Christmas House so we did most of our soveniere shopping from here. It's a typically touristy place with lots of people and too many activities which is why we had planned for just a one day thing in which we covered almost all things to see, like the Arctic Circle, visiting Santa etc.. But if you like all things touristy and have kids, this place needs 2-3 least.
It is literally Christmas all year round there!!! You can queue to see santa but no pictures, being there is magical and there is loads to do. You do however have to pay for everything when you get there which was frustrating as the rooms are so expensive. Maybe they should think about a discount for guests. As there are also quite a few tourists.
We were extremely lucky and saw the northern lights twice on our trip, once at the hotel which was everything we hoped for.
It's in a very central position, about 10mins drive outside of the main town.
In the rooms you have a small kitchen which we only used for tea and coffee. The best feature was the personal sauna which was amazing!!! And much needed as it was -35c when we were there.
As long as you don't have an issue with seeing reighdeer then eating a reighdeer burger you'll be fine. ;)
Thank you for an excellent trip!
