Overview

Located in the heart of Skagway, Sgt. Preston’s Lodge has come a long way from its time as an army barracks in the 1940s. After a complete remodel in 2016, very little of that history remains. What you’ll find instead are clean and contemporary rooms that have plenty of space for a family to spread out. In particular, its deluxe room offers two queen beds, along with the standard amenities. While there’s no free breakfast, several excellent restaurants and a grocery store are minutes away.

Skagway is a small, compact town, so everything is within walking distance of your hotel. Much of the town is a historical district with over 100 buildings dating back to the Klondike Gold Rush of the 1890s. From your hotel, it’s a leisurely stroll to any number of shops, restaurants and attractions. Five minutes away is the popular White Pass & Yukon Route Railway, a steam train that takes you on a round-trip journey into the mountains. Two blocks from your hotel is the must-see Days of ’98 vaudeville-style stage show. Lodge owners will be happy to point you to tour companies for whale watching, gold panning and glacier excursions. For the price, comfort and location, Sgt. Preston’s Lodge offers a great family-friendly choice for your visit to Skagway.
