Overview

This amazing B&B offers the best waterfront views, plus some of the most family-friendly rooms in town. Various options of king, queen, twin and bunk beds are available, but the spacious Master Suite is ideal for a family of five. A refrigerator and microwave are located in the hallway for guests to share, but you might not be hungry after chowing down on Sheltered Harbor’s famous homestyle all-you-can-eat breakfast, which usually includes pancakes, sausage, bacon, eggs, cereal, yogurt, toast and muffins. It’s considered the best breakfast in town.

A Sheltered Harbor B&B is located directly across from the Skagway-Haines fast ferry terminal and a popular swimming beach. Haines is a small town, with most shops and restaurants within easy walking distance of your hotel. You’ll also find any number of tour guides nearby, offering access to hiking, wildlife and glacier adventures. A few minutes away is one of the most unusual attractions in Haines, the Hammer Museum, the first museum in the world dedicated to hammers. For location and hospitality, this family-friendly B&B is one of your best choices for a vacation in Haines.

What a Gem!

by Nomad827

This was our favourite place that we stayed at during our Yukon/Alaska vacation in August 2019. The location was perfect and the views were stunning. What made our stay extra special were the hosts. Laura and Byron are so welcoming and they have thought of just about everything a guest might need to use or borrow while staying there (need to borrow an umbrella or a pair of reading glasses? They’ve got them!). Laura’s baking was amazing and we really enjoyed sharing stories with Byron while he prepared breakfast. Scrumptious breakfast included: fresh fruit salad, muffins, pancakes, sausage, coffee, OJ and the most amazing apple butter (Laura – thank you for the recipe). They suggested a local Haines food truck for fresh fish and chips (very yummy!! Gino’s Fish & Chips). They know the area very well and recommended a day trip to The Chilkoot River. We were lucky to see several brown bears “fishing” at the fish ladder and bald eagles resting on rocks waiting their turn to catch fish.
We would highly recommend staying at A Sheltered Harbor when visiting Haines. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Beautiful view

Nice place to stay for a night. The owners are friendly and the room was nice and large and very clean. However the place does need a bit of an upgrade. A quick walk to the waterfront and the pier from the B&B .
