It's a dated hotel but generally clean and predictable. I booked 8 rooms for my staff as we were having a special event that we have every year at the attached restaurant. In fact, this was the third time I had booked rooms for all my staff in the past four years. When I booked they couldn't give me a special rate but told me to order online and save a few bucks by indicating I was a AAA member, which I did. I arrived earlier in the day so I could put my company credit card on file for incidentals and valet for all the rooms and they had to manually run my card 8 times, which was tedious but it was the system they were working with. They took my AAA card and verified that. It was also verified online when I originally booked. In the middle of my dinner I get a call from a frantic employee spouse who was denied entrance to their room, which was paid for and had a credit on file for, as they didn't have my AAA card on file for that room. She tried to explain to the Sheraton that I had booked several rooms and that a AAA card should be on file. Nope, they weren't having it. I had to leave my party to attend to this and the personnel in the lobby felt my anger was amusing. With incidentals and valet, not to mention breakfasts, I was spending more than $1,500 with this hotel for the third time in four years and I was being smirked at. Since the restaurant is not owned by the hotel, we will once again hold our dinners there but we will walk the block to another hotel before giving Sheraton another dime. Bad attitude and poor customer service doesn't happen in a vacuum. I was treated the way in front of 3 other personnel. This is systematic behavior that is tolerated and allowed to happen. By acting this way openly in front of other staff I know it is behavior that is actually encouraged. As a customer, my only recourse is to take my business elsewhere.
The hotel is located right next to the convention center. Once you're there no need to move car unless exploring the city. The hotel has several patios to relax. The hotel as restaurants that serve good food at a decent price. The staff is use to hosting convention goers. They don't mind answering questions to help make stay more enjoyable. I used the laundry service and was pleased with result. I would suggest using the convention center to connect to other parts of the inner harbor. Be prepared to take Lyft/Uber to save time and money on parking.
