Sitting high up on a bluff with breathtaking ocean views, these spacious cottages can sleep a family of six in two bedrooms, and come with living room, dining area, and fully equipped kitchen that includes a refrigerator, freezer, oven, stovetop, dishwasher and microwave. The lodge plans everything for you except your meals, so you’ll need the luxury kitchen for your cooking. With grocery stores 30 miles away in Homer, it’s easy to load up on supplies for your entire stay. Other amenities include free Wi-Fi, satellite TV, gas grill and fireplace.
The lodge is on the sparsely populated coast between Kenai and Homer. It’s a great location for exploring the entire peninsula, as well as the Cook Inlet. Before you even book your stay, you fill out a “Build A Trip” form highlighting your family’s desired activities and excursions. The lodge then puts together your specially-priced vacation package. This could include halibut fishing, river rafting, horseback riding, zip-lining, or gold prospecting. Every detail of your trip will be perfectly planned out, with the best fishing and tour guides leading the way. It’s the kind of family vacation where even mom and dad can relax, knowing each day’s adventure is simply waiting for everyone to show up. With its carefully scheduled itineraries, beautifully decorated cottages, and stunning ocean views, the Soaring Eagle Lodge will be fun for your entire family.

Great cabins, had all the amenities we needed. The view was AMAZING. Liked having a planned travel itinerary. However, be prepared to do A LOT of driving. Some of the excursions (glacier cruise, zip-lining) are 3 hours one-way. All of the guides were fantastic. If you're looking for a leisurely vacation, this may not be for you. However, if you're looking for an adventure vacation, this is a great choice. Don't leave anything behind when you leave to go home. I tried calling and emailing several times to have a backpack returned but never received it.
Wow this place was great. Our cottage was super clean, looked brand new, would slept 6 comfortably. Had everything we needed to cook at home with the day’s catch. Trash and towels were picked up daily, linens if we wanted. The view out of our cottage was amazing, great view of the volcanoes across the inlet from our porch. Saw bald eagles daily, even saw a pod of Orca’s playing around in the waters off the bluff. The grounds were very well kept, green grass and rock paths to every cottage. It felt like we were the only ones there even though multiple cottages were occupied.
All the fishing charters they booked for us were awesome, caught our limit of halibut and salmon nearly every trip out. Every excursion was detailed in paperwork provided at check in , times to leave by, directions, phone numbers to guides, duration, what to bring, everything you needed. Provided processing and packing of all of our fish up to 50 lbs at a local charter, we fished lights out and only managed around 40lbs so no worries about overages. The only thing I’d keep in mind is you’ll have to pay the shipping for the fish to get home, if you don’t want to bring it on the airplane yourself. The airline approved containers aren’t unreasonable to carry with you, but they aren’t small either. The overnight shipping can cost in the $200-400 range, they offer 2 day shipping but it’s not guaranteed to be frozen on arrival like the overnight.
Provided everything we needed to fish on our own as well. Fishing licenses were waiting in the cottage when we arrived. Hip boots, rods and reels, tackle. All we needed to get was the roe for bait if you don’t want to use the spoons and lures they provided. Josh, one of the managers, was also helpful in giving us a few spots nearby where we could catch some salmon, and a few tips on the gear as well.
I would definitely stay here again, it was beautiful, and we didn’t have to worry about a thing.
