A shocker !!

by longwalk62

Beautiful hotel no doubt about it. I remember when it was an empty derelict shell, a very poor and sorry state. Now it’s a sumptuous splendour of a hotel. However, our room whilst functional nothing extra ordinary and more so had a window with simply a brick wall 1ft away as the outlook. No prior warning or suggestion that this would be the case when we made the booking made. Breakfast too was an abomination more akin to a all inclusive bun fight on the Costa Brava. Having paid £500 for the night (the money not being the issue) to find breakfast was a help your self style Buffett where you had to do it all yourself was not in keeping with any expectations or refinements one would expect of a 5 star hotel. If I wanted that I’d have booked a holiday inn. Even the toaster had seen better days with broken knobs etc! Beggars belief how the hotel management think serving breakfast to this standard and in this way to discerning clients is the way forward. I will simply not return based on the breakfast experience alone! Truly horrific experience!

A fallen star

Asked for a room with bath and received one but broken plug! Engineer removed same to reveal kilo of human hair! Room changed but water too cold for a bath! Stayed here a few times before and always been happy (even with the extortionate prices! ) but this time was frankly disappointing. To assuage my upset during the bath episode I was offered, wait for it, a glass of lemonade!
