Arizona State Fair Dates: Oct. 5 to Oct. 28, 2018
Arizona's state fair began in 1884, before it was even a state. At the time, it was a small, six-day celebration. These days, crowds at the fairgrounds in Phoenix
swell to more than one million people.
For many fairgoers, it's all about the extreme thrill rides like Mach 1, G Force and Mega Drop. The carousel, Euroslide and La Grande Wheel, the largest traveling Ferris wheel in North America, are also popular. A stellar concert lineup is presented in the 15,000-seat Coliseum.
There's plenty here for kids, including the Play Space indoor activity hangout, Kiddieland, the Great American Petting Zoo and Kerr's Farm Tours. In addition, nearly 3,000 animals, including sheep, pigs, llamas, rabbits, quail and even pheasants, are on display.
Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for seniors and kids ages 5 to 13, and free for children under 5.
