Overview

This recognizable hotel offers an affordable, comfortable and clean place to stay for your family visit to Sitka. For large families, ask for a suite, which contains three queen beds and a spacious living room. There is definitely room for a family of six or more in there. The hotel was recently remodeled, so it has a fresh, contemporary look. Large photos of Alaskan scenery compliment the decor. A small continental breakfast of cereal, juice, and pastries is served to guests. A few other amenities include free Wi-Fi microwave, refrigerator and a large onsite laundromat.

Super 8 Sitka is located in the heart of downtown, less than 2 miles from the airport. It’s only a few blocks from the waterfront and within walking distance of a wide variety of shops and restaurants. Family-friendly attractions, such as the Alaska Raptor Center and the Sitka National Historic Park, are less than a mile away. Kayaking is a popular activity, and you’ll find several guided tour companies nearby to help get you going. If you need a bigger boat, or a plane, or a jeep to see the wildlife, you’ll find plenty of those companies here too. For location and cost, it’s hard to beat the Super 8 Sitka for your Alaskan family vacation.

Clean and Comfortable

by DrCitrus

Conveniently located in Sitka, walking distance from the downtown sights. Friendly service, comfortable bed with refrigerator, good coffee very early in the morning when you have to be up to catch that 6:00 a.m. flight to Seattle. Property needs some updating, but is a solid choice at a good rate.

Pretty nice motel; lousy breakfast.

We were there a week. The first room they gave us was small due to linen closet in the hall and very noisy from the nearby traffic circle. At our request, we were moved after the first night to a equivalent, but larger room, which was quite and we were happy in. Location is very good: easy to walk downtown. The room was good, considering it is Super 8. Bed was comfortable, towels were skimpy. There were 3 chairs and some floor space. The staff was very pleasant and helpful when we needed them, but the front desk seldom had anyone there. It is mostly a quiet place-- laid back like Sitka itself! The breakfast was the most pathetic, even by Super 8 standards. Prepackaged cereals, instant oatmeal, yogurt cups, a few types of bread, 2 juices, coffee. Many things had minimal stock. Not terrible, but not impressive at all.Maybe there is not much demand. Overall,.. it IS a Super 8; the cost was much lower than other available hotels and the location, room, and staff were nice. We were happy enough.
