Overview

With rooms that look straight out of Coastal Living magazine, with a soothing nautical décor of light blues, whites and taupes, the Viceroy continues its luxury brand environment on the Santa Monica beaches. Standard Viceroy rooms begin at 320 square feet and feature a king or two double beds with pool or city views. Ocean views come at a premium, and Viceroy Grande Rooms extend the space to 470 square feet with larger sitting areas. Suites begin at 640 square feet and one bedroom with a king bed and a living room with sleeper sofa. The Monarch Suite is the hotel’s largest suite with a marble entry, and an additional second bedroom. All suites have ocean views. All rooms are equipped with flat-screen TVs and CD/DVD players. The hotel’s two swimming pools feature cabana seating and dining, and all-day, indoor dining can be found at the hotel’s Cast restaurant, which is open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. for breakfast through lunch, and then reopens at 6:30 p.m. for dinners every say but Monday night. The hotel charges a daily resort fee that includes a welcome beverage upon arrival, morning coffee, Wi-Fi bike rentals, fitness center access and fitness classes (seasonal) and 10 percent off food charges.

Disappointed

Nothing special, common, ordinary... integrity of room lacking, paint peeling, carpet and bathroom old, used up... Property charges well, costs high... services lack... staff disinterested, polite, yet ineffective

Nice hotel, great if you want hip, young, status

We stayed here for a few days and it was a lovely respite from evacuation from our home during the fires. They welcomed us and our dog and offered a percentage off for evacuees. The room service food was excellent and the hotel service in general was very good. It’s a hip hotel for those who want to be seen and socialize with others who want the same thing. The restaurant is also lovely but you have to put up with the vibe I described. Most staff in the lobby are under 30. There is some lack of experience that showed, but not in the most important places. Would definitely return. We appreciated all they did for us.
