Quality dive training

by 293916Megan

It was time to leave my comfort zone and further my diving knowledge and experience. Consequently, I decided to do the TDI advanced Nitrox and deco procedures courses.
After looking at options, Blue PO₂ Diving became my top choice, due to the experience of the instructor, Richard Devanney, and the great training facility at Villa Alba.
Both courses were taught to a high standard. The training progressed at a good rate, and went beyond what is normally provided.

Richard is a professional, organised, patient, and dedicated Instructor. He has an excellent knowledge of technical diving, diving physiology, physics, and equipment considerations, and consequently I learned a lot. The course was designed to encourage thinking, and good level of feedback and discussion happens at the end of each dive/day. This meant I learned why it certain aspects of technical diving are done in certain ways (e.g. gear/diving planning/techniques). We had lots of time diving and practising skills, so that I could get comfortable with the equipment, dive planning, and techniques.

I would recommend him, and this training facility, to anyone who wants the best instruction, a high level of attention to detail and safety.
Overall, it was a rewarding experience, the dives were great, and I look forward to coming back!

Well set-up dive resort near Tulamben

by Mersonfanclub

This is a resort designed for all levels of divers, including those interested in technical but also a nice place to hang out if your party is a mix of divers and non-divers. You can walk into the sea and go for a dive off the reef; its part of the local environment, rather than an artificial tourist enclave - you know you're not in Florida, which I prefer. It's been a while since I stayed in Bali and I'd forgotten Tulamben is a long way from the airport (90 minutes, two hours plus depending on traffic) so factor that in.

As someone who lived in Asia for a long time, the food is really good - the resort is popular with Chinese divers so it has to be :). The owners live on site, which is the best way to ensure standards are maintained, wifi worked well (not always the case in Bali) and the rooms are good.
