so we finally ventured back to this property after being sorely disappointed by the construction noise last year and this stay was much better. We were given a higher room and there was no noise granted our stay was on the weekend. I also felt like the staff were much more on their game than last time. After speaking to some of them it sounded like the construction has been hard on them too. In short, we'll be back. We also ate at the pool bar for lunch which was surprisingly good as was the a la carte menu.
This is our second stay at this resort. The first time was 14 years ago when it was under different management.
The rooms were comfortable and spacious - the ocean view was lovely. We were in the south tower, 9th floor, away from the renovation. The staff was wonderful- welcoming, friendly, and helpful. The beach is gorgeous and there’s some nice snorkeling along the coast on the north end.
On the not so positive side, there was a wedding party and very loud band next to our room. It would be nice to forewarn the nearby occupants ahead of time. Also, the resort seems rather barren now. The former art pieces were removed and there were no gorgeous local flower arrangements. I heard that the Westin only allows living plants.
The Westin Hapuna Beach Resort's beach is the largest on the Kohala Coast. The second largest, however, is located at Mauna Kea, so a stay at either resort guarantees your family the area's best beaches. Families can enjoy snorkeling, sailing, kayaking, deep-sea fishing, whale watching and more, arranged through the concierge.
The Keiki Club provides supervised activities for children ages 5 to 12. Programs run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and include lunch; half-day programs are also available. Kids enjoy T-shirt painting, beach treasure hunts and Hawaiian arts and crafts. The club is open seasonally during peak travel times for families, and costs an extra fee.
Parents will like the resort's 18-hole, par-72 golf course includes putting and chipping greens, a driving range, lessons and a pro shop. Guests may also want to visit the Mauna Kea Golf Course, which is also an 18-hole, par-72 course with the same amenities.
Eleven oceanside tennis courts are also available at Mauna Kea.

Quick meals and snacks are offered throughout the day at Cafe Hapuna, in the lobby, from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
