Overview

About 40 miles south of Yosemite, the Westin Monache resort offers breathtaking views of its own, as well as comfortable family-friendly suites sleeping up to six. Breakfast isn’t free, but an onsite restaurant serves breakfast and dinner (though dinner options might be too upscale for younger kids). Kids enjoy the outdoor pool, and parents tired from chasing young ones around the national park all day can soak in one of the two hot tubs. And if you’d like a longer break or a date night, send the kids off for crafts and games at the Westin Kids Club, open for children aged 4 to 12 (for a fee).

Very good but less than expected for a resort

by Joan M

My husband and I spent four nights at the resort and we loved the room accommodations. The bed was comfortable which we think is especially important after a full day of sightseeing. The kitchen facilities were very complete, and our favorite was the fireplace! I would have given the resort a five; however, compared to what I am used to in Florida for a resort, the Westin was lacking especially since there was a daily resort fee added to our charges. Really need to up their game in that area. PS - My husband reminded me that the bar needs some improvements with their cocktails, too.

WESTIN/MARRIOTT BRAND “KENNEL”

by Bob L

It takes a long time for a brand to build a customer and a shorter time to lose one.
Marriott’s policy of welcoming pets as part of the family is unhygienic, not good for those with pet dander allergies, and annoying as barking in the middle of the night occurs.

While many, if not most, visitors are ok with this, in my opinion, the Chain’s name should now end in “KENNELS”
