Located just 10 miles from Mount Rushmore, Whispering Winds Cottages is the perfect destination for families looking to enjoy the outdoors and a little bit of history. Families can opt to stay in a cottage or camp in their RV or tent. Most cottages include a small refrigerator, microwave and coffee pot, and guests can park right outside of their cottage.
After you’ve seen Mount Rushmore, head to the nearby Crazy Horse Memorial or Black Hills National Forest, home to continental North America’s tallest peaks east of the Rockies. At the end of your day, enjoy a meal at the picnic area, equipped with grills and a fire pit. Kids will love the playground and game room, complete with a pool table, puzzles and board games.

We wanted to visit Mt Rushmore on our way to Yellowstone. These road side cabins are nice and revival any 3 star hotel. The cabin had a bedroom and living room with sofa bed and full kitchen. The cabins are located just a few miles from Mt Rushmore and give you a head start on the black hula or devils tower. We enjoyed our stay with our kids. Nice place.
We booked for six nights but only stayed for 5 due to rain. It is the perfect place to stay to visit the BlackHills and the perfect spot to relax at night. The only thing missing was an oven but the hostess took care of making my biscuits... If we ever get back I hope to see Debby, Ken and Mary again, great people to sit around the campfire and chat. You folks made our visit special. And if touring on motorcycle like we were, this is a super safe place. Cell service is not good, but it was great to disconnect from work.
Thanks again, Mark and Alison Kendrick
