TripAdvisor Rating

This charming motel is the prime spot for climbers to bunk down before or after their expeditions, but the Whittaker is perfect for families, too, thanks especially to large rooms, each of which include two beds, free Wi-Fi and a private bath at a minimum. But some, like Room 20, are even larger, with a queen bed, three twin beds, private bath, and a mini-fridge, microwave and TV/DVD player. If you want some more privacy and don’t need TV or Wi-Fi, there’s the cottage, tucked into towering firs and with visiting deer, elk, raccoons and coyotes. It’s located 1.5-miles closer to the park entrance, and features a queen and two twin beds with a private bath, gas fireplace and a full kitchen.

Great ice creams!

by shimazolo

We just stopped by on the way back from mont rainier. Lovely atmosphere at the coffee area with chairs outside under the porch. Coffee was great and Loved the cookie dough and banana split ice creams!

Great location but disappointing overall

Stayed in room 5 - the pillows were flat. A $4 pillow from Walmart would be an upgrade. The mattress wasn't comfortable. No cell reception via Verizon. Which would have been fine, except the Wi-Fi connection was too weak to even upload a picture. My girlfriend needed a hair dryer, but there was no hair dryer in the room. By far the worst hotel experience I've had for $95/night. I don't understand how this place gets such great reviews, unless the other rooms are significantly nicer than room 5. Great location near Mt Rainier park, friendly staff, easy check, and great breakfast cafe in the morning. I wish the owner would invest in better bedding, I would have gladly paid more per night for a decent pillow. There's no excuse for how bad the pillows were. And I would rather not have been offered Wi-Fi only to find out that the connection was too poor to use. Disappointing because with a few simple upgrades this property would be top notch.
