At the top of the list is the Surf Club's pool, where a family favorite is floating down the lazy river. You'll need to bring a floats or inner tubes from home, or purchase one at the gift shop. Waterfalls and slides are great for older children and teens, and for parents, well-sized Jacuzzis are set off from the main pool.
There are plenty of water sports at the resort, including banana boats, jet-skiing, scuba diving, snorkeling, deep sea fishing, sailing and kayaking. The Jolly Pirate Cruise is an island favorite with afternoon and sunset trips. Kids 4 years and under are free and kids 5 to 10 are charged 50 percent. The cruise visits three shallow reefs, sometimes stopping at a WWII German shipwreck.
For the landlubber, there is tennis, volleyball, horseback riding, hiking and squash. Within two miles of the resort are two golf clubs: the 18-hole Tierra del Sol and the 9-hole Link at Divi. A fitness center is on-site, and the spa is .2 miles away.
Native iguanas frequent the grounds, an unusual sight for American kids who often find them fascinating. Other island attractions include: Jeep safari tours, the Lighthouse, the Natural Bridge, Indian Caves, the Ostrich Farm, the Butterfly Farm and the Donkey Sanctuary.
