My husband and I still pinch ourselves that we were able to treat our boys to a vacation they will remember for a lifetime! I can think of very few things to complain about (and then we are just becoming whiners!) but can go on endlessly about what
more +an amazing resort it was! We had long wanted to experience a Caribbean vacation with them but had a set budget and wanted to get the most for our money. We determined that an all-inclusive works best for us because we basically knew in advance what our total cost would be. We planned 2 amazing excursion and threw in a last one while on the trip.
What did we love most? OOOhh hard to choose! Every morning someone was dispatched to go down (approx 7 am) to put a few towels from home/ a novel/anything to reserve our poolside family "palapa". We loved sitting on this massive king-size bed under shaded canopy and reading a book, participating in activities, drinking luscious pool-side drinks. Our teen boys could go to the bar and get any non-alcoholic beverage at any time without needing any cash. They could choose a different restaurant from us, and we knew they would be perfectly safe, not need any cash (perhaps $2-3 tip if you like) and have a good - great dinner. If they wanted ice cream or jalapeno poppers or nachos for an afternoon snack (following their lunch) they were free to help themselves. The 4 pools offer something for everyone! We loved the "party pool" in the morning and usually retreated to the ocean or the "quiet pool" in the afternoon if the other guests got too rowdy. The lobby is massive and every night there is usually something interesting being offered up there - with plentiful beverages of course - karaoke, chocolate fountain, Mayan dancers,
Service - we thought it was largely excellent. Someone is always coming by your beach lounger or palapa to offer you any concoction of beverage you can think of!
Basically 8 restaurants - each one offering something different. Sensai (Japanese) often has long waits, so you may be given a late reservation time, but it's an enjoyable dinner. The cafeteria style restaurant features a different theme every evening so even a 2nd time produced a great dinner with a multitude of choices for everyone with no waiting. The Creperie provides ocean-side experience and a unique menu. The seafood restaurant was worth going back for a 2nd visit so we did! I enjoyed fresh grilled fish both there and in the cafeteria-style restaurant at a few lunches and dinners. We had an excellent dinner at the Italian Restaurant. Our boys loved getting luscious Mocha Frappuccinos every day from Mike's Coffee House! Yummm.
An excursion to say YES to is Selvatica - Corona Buggy Rally. It includes 12 zip lines through the jungle, followed by crazy off-road dune buggy racing through the jungle, followed by a super-refreshing zip line and swim in a freshwater cenote and a lunch at the end. The guys that serve a guides are GREAT, especially Panther and Dude.
Can you find resorts out there better? Of course you can, but for THE MONEY with was first rate. Admittedly, the Mexicans are not good bakers, so most pastries, donuts and baked goods are mediocre. Some rooms can have a musty smell - but we asked for a switch to a closer ocean view and they were able to accommodate us with a move after the first 2 nights. Next room was great. Worth asking!
The ONLY reason we would likely not go back is.... once you've experienced that wonderful of a vacation and sampled all there is to do...enjoyed perfect weather every day.... you feel that you might be disappointed if you go back again. How could we top it??!!!
P.S. I discovered if I booked Ocean Coral directly through Club H10 within the H10 hotel chain, I saved an additional 5%. It's fee to join. Then I booked my flights directly and all the tours directly through Olympus tours (plus the round trip private shuttle to/from airport). By booking the shuttle and 2 tours we got an additional discount. Worth doing!

OCEAN CORAL AND TURQUESTA- ALL INCLUSIVE
(Puerto Morelos, Mexico)

This resort is a MUST!! Visit. It is located south of Cancun and north of Playa del Carmen, Mexico.
more +The Resort is approximately 20 minutes from the Cancun Airport. I would rate it as a 10++. The entire staff is friendly and accommodating to your every wish and needs. An all-inclusive consist of no extra cost for alcoholic drinks and beverages of any kind. No gratuities. All meals and knacks included in one price. This is better than cruises because once you are on the ship, you must pay gratuities. This is usually $ 10.00 a day per person and pay for all drinks (alcoholic or otherwise). The specialty restaurants on cruise ships are also charged extra. Not here. Any and all specialty restaurants are included. A safe was included for your valuables, no charge. There was a mini-bar, which was replenished every morning, no charge.
My husband, Bob, and I had a Deluxe Junior Suite Ocean View-all inclusive. I believe all the units are suites. Our suite was the size of an average one bedroom apartment. The bathroom had a two person shower. Telephone in the toilet stall. A huge vanity area and a Jacuzzi tub. Every area in the bathroom was opulent. Bedroom was plush. Living room comfortable. Balcony overlooking the ocean. Sitting on the balcony at night watching the moon beam down on the ocean; you will experience that 'AHA' moment.
This all-inclusive featured six restaurants. Reservations did not have to be made.
You can eat at anyone or hit several in one night for dinner.
Casa del Mar - a buffet. It was set up like fine dining. Linen tablecloths and centerpieces and waiters/waitress assisting all the time. You only had to get your food and the waiters would do the rest.
Villa Marino - Caribbean Grill
Sensai - Oriental
Hacienda Las Girasales - Mexican
Ritratti O'Italia - Italian
American - Steaks and Seafood
The Score - Similar to an American Sports Bar
Mikes Coffee and Tea - Iced drinks/iced coffee, teas, sandwiches , etc
There is 4 pools. One is a swim up to the bar. This one is nicknamed the "Drunk Pool". A full service spa, fitness center. And the beautiful beach. The beach was aligned with cabanas , recliners, and umbrellas. Beach towels are supplied.
We took two tours. My husband loves sailing and boating. So, these trips were on some type of boat. Both we loved. We went on a Lobster Lunch tour in Isla Mujeres .
The catamaran sailed along the waters of the Mexican Caribbean. You can go snorkeling, drinks all day, lobster lunch, and a visit to down town Isla Mujeres.
Bob and I met new friends. The trip was a really wonderful sailing party. We will never forget. If you go, do sail on the "Sea Passion" catamaran. The crew was the absolute best. Cost was not pricey. The food excellent.
There is also a Lobster Dinner Cruise. You can also pick surf and Turf, if desired.
We had a great time. Lobsters huge and steaks tender to the touch and taste.
A musician played his saxophone the entire time and so romantic. There was a lot of laughter , fun , dancing and great fun. Bob was in "pig heaven" when the captain let him steer the ship for a short while. That old navy man came alive.
I could go on and on about this trip and resort. There are many great things to tell. Just go and enjoy. This resort was family oriented as well as for adults and seniors. Everyone we conversed with was pleased and we all agreed this is a place to revisit.

We stayed at the Ocean Turquesa by H10 in the Riviera Maya and couldn't have been more pleased with our stay. We upgraded to Privilege which gave our family access to many benefits, one being the "quiet pool". This alone was worth the $$
more +of the upgrade. It definately catered to families and we didn't have to worry about our children seeing intoxicated or rowdy guests. Privilege gave us unlimited beach service which was amazing. There was a great kids club as well as a movie theater and a great kids night where the kids got to play games for prizes (my kids loved that). The staff was unreal. They were always polite, friendly and always eager to please. If you ever needed anything they made sure you had it, and fast. Our room was wonderful, not one bad thing I could say about it. Fresh towels were brought to our room 2x/day.
The food was fresh and plentiful. For us picky eaters, we were not disappointed and never hungry. There is certainly something for everyone. Many a la carte restaurants, coffee house or round the clock room service for Privilege guests.
We went to Playa Del Carmen for one day to market shop and had a fantastic time. My kids thought it was a blast. 5th Ave. is impressive with all the local and non-local shops. There is a Starbucks there, McDonalds, Ben and Jerry's. We had dinner at Senor Frogs which i highly recommend. It's a lot of fun.
I would highly recommend this resort for families. We definatey plan to go back. They made a worry wart mom, paranoid about "Mexico" very comfortable.

We got a great deal at the all-inclusive, Ocean Coral Resort. The facilities, restaurants, activities were all phenomenal, until Friday evening that is. Because of the swine flu scare we got a great price on our vacation, but because the resort's
more +bookings were down so much they offered the locals a "Special" Friday through Sunday. So you could be just relaxing until Friday evening hit, then it looked like the pool scene from "Caddy Shack". I was having a beer at the swim up bar in the "adult"; pool when a local girl, about seven years old, in an inter tube climbed onto the barstool next to me, then standing on the bar she jumped across me back into the pool. The rest of the weekend was long lines, drunken teenagers, restaurants booked solid, and mayhem in general. We went back to the room and ordered room service, and still had a great time.
A tour bus to the best Mayan ruin, Chitzen Itza. Not a trip for little kids but our teen loved it. We did some souvenir shopping, ate in a local buffet, swam in a Cenote. It was a full day away from the resort, but a once in a lifetime experience we all enjoyed. Apparently, the fact we went on a cooler day helped!
