We’ve just returned from the most incredible 6 days at Shangri-La Resort & Spa for our 25th wedding anniversay. From the moment we were met at Male airport by a very friendly resort rep & seamlessly transferred to our domestic flight to Gan we were impressed. Our speed boat ride with friendly staff through to being met & checked into our over water villa (110) we were continuously impressed. Our villa was beautiful, right on the edge of the house reef, sure, the villa shows a little bit of age, however it was huge, very well appointed & beautifully cleaned everyday. To be able to take a few steps down a ladder to sit amongst tropical fish was amazing. The water was breathtakingly turquoise just like in the photos! The island is so beautiful, we loved riding our bikes around the island everyday. Then the hard decisions, sit/swim at the beautiful pool, swim at the beach by the pool, paddle board or snorkel directly from our villa deck. We enjoyed a round of golf on the most picturesque of golf courses. The beautiful staff at the resort really did make our trip a dream. Each breakfast & lunch we ate at Javu. The food was fabulous & the service was beyond expectations. We thoroughly enjoyed speaking with the staff about their lives & sharing ours. We ate at each of the 3 restaurants at night. Fabulous food at each. We went on an all inclusive trip which made it all easy, the bar staff knew what we liked to drink & really obliged keeping our favs coming. It was a big decision to go & which resort to choose. We couldn’t of been happier with Shangri-La, ultimately we chose it as it was bigger than others which perhaps gave a bit more space & options if we wanted more to do or not. Just a shame we didn’t stay longer. As soon as our feet hit the white sand, we left the worries & stress at home behind. ALL the staff we engaged with, from the staff sweeping the paths each day to management we were impressed. Thankyou so much to all the wonderful staff, from check in, to the restaurant staff, servers & chefs, activities & the fab bar staff. We already miss your smiling faces. We wish you all the best & hope to return again. Don’t hesitate if you can’t decide, you won’t be disappointed.
