Great location and service

by Bennett E

We enjoyed staying at this hotel. Try their signature iced tea. Service was excellent (thanks Giana and Suresh), restaurant (thanks Fred) was great. Location near to Universal Studios, we were able to walk. Room was old and in need of update but will return if we come back. Loved visiting Singapore.

Mixed feelings about rooms, below average amenities

by summerydawn

We had a staycation with friends. We stayed at the one bedroom villa. While our friends stayed at the courtyard suite.

We arrived early and were informed at check-in that our rooms weren't ready. So we asked reception where the restaurant is. We would have lunch first. She showed us the direction of Shutters restaurant.

When we reached the restaurant, we were told it is closed for a wedding lunch. Surprising. The hotel is not that huge. Why wasn't reception informed?

A service staff said we could have lunch at the bar instead and showed us there. The place felt claustrophobic and mouldy? We decided not to do that.

So we went back to reception and asked for an early check-in so we could order room service. She told us that the courtyard suite was ready. So we made our way there.

Abject disappointment :( That was what we felt when we saw the suite. It was dated. And small. Certainly not what one expects of a room costing $400++ close to $500.

We proceeded to order room service. And then realize there wasn't anywhere in the room appropriate for us to dine on.

So we followed up with reception about the villa. Finally we were told it's ready. So we asked for room service to be transferred to the villa.

Fortunately, the villa is nice! Yay! A win after so many disappointments! At least, the villa matched its price tag.

I wish the standards could have been more consistent at Amara Sanctuary Resort. And that there was more communication among the staff/departments. I wanted to love this staycation. Hopefully, the hotel will improve!
