Overview

These lakeside cabins are perfect for a family that wants to be off the beaten path, but still close to the services of town. With only two cabins on the wooded shore of this small lake, you’ll have a real feeling of privacy. Each cabin has a queen bed in a separate bedroom, a queen futon in the living room and a full bed in an upstairs loft. There’s also a kitchenette that includes a small refrigerator, microwave, toaster and coffeemaker. Kids will love waking up to the sound of birds on the lake, and the chance of a moose or bear wandering along the waterfront. The whole family will enjoy taking the complimentary canoe out on the water. Other amenities include free Wi-Fi and a free continental breakfast.

Alpaca Cabins is located 6 miles south of Talkeetna, a fun and quirky little town that was the model for the TV show Northern Exposure. The entire downtown core is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Kids can learn about the early trappers and pioneers in the Talkeetna Museum, then stop in for a snack at the 100-year-old Nagley’s General Store. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from, serving up everything from seafood to burgers to Thai cuisine. A mile from your cabin is Fish Lake, where the Alaska Bush Floatplane Service is based. They offer several amazing flightseeing trips over Denali National Park, and will even land on a glacier if you want to get out and walk around. Other guided trips are available in town, as well as prime riverside fishing spots and hiking trails. For a feeling of peace and privacy in a secluded lakeside spot, the Alpaca Cabins make a great choice for your family vacation to Talkeetna.

Quiet and Beautiful

by 777waynez

This cabin is secluded and overlooks a small pond/lake. Wild life is abundant in the area and the cabin is immaculately kept. There is a little kitchenette area and seating area. Additionally, there is a ladder which leads to a loft bed. Fortunately there are screens on the windows because the mosquitoes in Alaska during the summer are a nuisance. This is a beautiful and quiet place to stay.

Little Hideaway

by dts71

Just off the main road on the way to Talkeetna are these 2 little cabins with your own private lake. Very comfortable place to rest and sleep and have a few cocktails( stopped at Denali Brewing Co)about 3 minutes away and enjoy the great outdoors. Very delightful, she provided us water, orange juice & muffins for the morning. Relaxing & clean.
