Overview

A 19th-century farm located right on the shores of Lake Winnipesauke, this cottage resort is truly a trip back in time, without television, radios, or internet in the rooms (and barely cell phone reception). What it does have, however, is 135 acres of scenic fields and woodlands for the family to spread out and explore, as well as a private beach and boat launch right on the lake. The grounds feature lots of fun activities to keep kids occupied, including Ping Pong, volleyball, and shuffleboard, and a store stocked with candy, ice cream and toys. There’s a reason some families have continued to come back for four — or even five — generations.

All of the cabins feature a kitchenette, and some have a separate bedroom as well. In addition, the farmhouse has a seasonal restaurant that draws boaters from around the lake for breakfasts piled high with pancakes and sausage. Many guests bring their own boats, allowing them to paddle or jet around to all of the many attractions around the lake.

Adorable Throwback

by nenglebret

I enjoyed my stay at Ames Farm Inn. I stayed in the Annex, which is a farmhouse sectioned into four apartments. This was great as we had a kitchenette, livingroom, table, couch and TV, as well as a separate bedroom. It was quaint and clean. We had breakfast at the restaurant twice and lunch once. It's an adorable throwback to olden times. A short walk across the (busy) street to the nice sandy beach area. A nice porch to hang on and watch the lake and relax. Our only complaint was the cell service was awful, but that's not their fault - they are surrounded by mountains! They do not have wifi, so if this is important, I wouldn't stay there, and I found out when we checked out that the cottages that are right on the water don't even have TV's! So it is a real throwback, but we enjoyed the rest and relaxation very much. Very convenient to the entire lake, and truly an adorable throwback to Ames Farm Inn's roots to over 100 years ago!

Great breakfast!

We have driven by Ames Farm Inn on our way to Ellacoya State Park and have always liked the looks of the restaurant. Today was the first time we had time to stop for breakfast. Cannot say enough about how good the food is. I had blueberry pancakes--plenty of blueberries. They were excellent. Husband had a Spanish omelet-eggs nice and fluffy, very good salsa and he's very particular about salsa. Service was friendly and efficient. Breakfast is served all day (they are open until 1PM). We didn't have a wait but were there around 10AM
