Arthur’s Seat

Attraction

Legend has it the “mountain” overlooking the city was named for Camelot’s Arthur, but the locals love to pull your leg with that story. In actuality, it was more likely that the name derives from the Gaelic “Arn-na-Said,” which means “Height of Arrows,” as it’s the highest point of Edinburgh. Holyrood Park, the park itself has three lakes, cliffs and hiking trails. It also makes for an easy hike for the kids, as well as a perfect picnic playground.
