French Quarter

Canal Street to Esplanade Avenue, Mississippi River to North Rampart Street, New Orleans, LA

When you think of New Orleans and picture French architecture with wrought-iron balconies, horse-drawn carriages and jazz pouring out of open windows and doors, its most likely the French Quarter you’re imagining. The heart and soul of New Orleans, this historic district is where New Orleans got its start as a port town off of the mighty Mississippi River. Art galleries rest beside rowdy bars, and boutiques are neighbors with Voo Doo shops. It’s a true mixture of all of the different cultures and people that made and make New Orleans so vibrant. Walking tours provide interesting history lessons, especially during the evening when partaking in a ghost tour to learn about New Orleans’ torrid past. On weekends and especially during special events, nighttime in the French Quarter, particularly renowned Bourbon Street, may get a bit too crazy for little ones.
