Heifer Village

1 World Ave. , Little Rock, 72202, AR

You’ve probably heard the term “paying it forward,” or perhaps read the children’s book “Beatrice’s Goat,” the story of a young girl in Uganda who realized her dream of attending school, thanks to the gift of livestock, which helped her family’s livelihood. Learn more about a unique approach to relieving global concerns like poverty and hunger when you take a tour of the world headquarters of Heifer International, a non-profit devoted to growing sustainable agriculture in developing countries. Admission is free. There’s an onsite café featuring ingredients from local farms and a gift shop with an interesting variety of Fair Trade items for sale. Catch the River Rail Trolley, or walk from the William J. Clinton Presidential Center, located next door. If you’re interested in more hands-on learning, consider a visit to the Heifer Ranch in nearby Perryville. Heifer Village is open Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
