Old Town Waterfront

Attraction

Alexandria’s Old Town Waterfront has a little something for everyone. Located in one of America’s most historically relevant cities, Alexandria’s Old Town Waterfront borders the banks of the beautiful Potomac River and is surrounded by stunning 17th and 18th century architecture and decor. With plenty of shops, restaurants and taverns in close proximity, visiting families are never bored. Children will enjoy the various street performers, artists and musical acts, as well as ice cream and other snacks along the boardwalk.

The Old Town Waterfront is also home to the Torpedo Factory Art Center, which is just as interesting as it sounds. The Torpedo Factory Art Center is a three-story, newly renovated industrial building right next to King Street, the busiest street on the waterfront. During World War II, the building was used to produce torpedoes for the U.S. Army. After the war, in 1969, it was proposed that the factory building be used for art, and the rest is history. Admission to The Torpedo Factory is free, and is home to some of Alexandria’s most creative paintings, sculptures, jewelry, etc.

Alexandria’s Old Town Waterfront is the perfect place for a nice, relaxed, fun family stroll.
