Even if your family is firmly anti-museums, NEMO is a must-see. Five floors smell, feel, hear and see, actively engaging all ages, from the tiniest tots to teenagers. The museum’s motto is, “You are forbidden NOT to touch everything” and delivers on interesting, interactive exhibits. The museum is accessible by tram or boat, and is an architectural prize of Amsterdam. The canteen on the top floor is affordable, and offers good views of the city. If you’re there in the summertime, kids will love the rooftop splash park, complete with sand, lounge chairs and free entry for non-museum goers. Visitors are welcome to bring their own food and picnic there as well.
