This beachfront, all-inclusive resort is large enough to never fill crowded, but small enough that everything is only a short walk from your guestroom.

Most of the guestrooms overlook the large pool area, where kids will find waterslides and splash areas and adults will find lounge chairs in the shade. Just steps away from the pool is the sandy beach and calm sea waters. The resort is situated on Tangolunda Bay, just inside the Pacific Ocean, so the waters are often calm — making it a great place for families to swim. Plus, lifeguards are always on duty at both the pools and the beach.

After a day spent at the beach and pools, families will surely enjoy meals at the wide variety of restaurants, all included in nightly rates. The game room, kids’ club and onsite theater with nightly entertainment are all excellent additions to a family stay at Barcelo Huatulco.

A Literal "Last Resort"

by RadGaw

To start, the hotel isn't in terrible shape, but is definitely in need of a face-lift. I saw an electric cord roughly 3 foot from a pool of water which was concerning. However, there was also construction directly above a open pool (one of only two at the resort) and I witnessed sawdust falling into the pool with people swimming maybe 10 feet away (photo attached below) and workers walking along the roof without harnesses and sometimes without hardhats. Not the mention the sound of heavy machinery, clanking, and banging right next to the pool. Shortly after, i witnessed someone welding maybe 5 feet away from a sidewalk.

Health risks aside, the only other major issue I had with with the hotel was the food. Long story short, i'd recommend bringing a bottle of Pepto-Bismol to be safe.

Other than that there was no real problems with the rooms and there was fresh towels every night. The staff and waiters were also always very kind and helpful. In particular, Miguel from PR was very helpful during our stay The beds were comfy and the balcony was nice. Its definitely not the worst resort for families with younger children, but there's not many activities for older kids, and we heard from people at different resorts they had a much better experience overall. We tried to transfer hotels during our stay, but unfortunately they were fully booked. I was definitely disappointed with the experience though (even after hearing good things about the Barcelo chain in general)and will not be returning to this one.

The hotel staff were courteous and professional. The noise of the construction was annoying. the kids pool was dirty, I barely used it. the waitresses and waiters were awesome. if someone would notify me about the construction and the lack of the pool restaurant and Bar I could cancel my reservation which I paid several months in advance . We did not have a snack area (anywhere) and we had to work around the restaurants schedule.
