Overview

Taormina’s most luxurious hotel is this hilltop spot that oozes Italian glamour through every window peering onto the Ionian Sea, far below. The concierge can book all kinds of family-friendly tours to Etna and surrounds, and babysitting, too, if you need it. Make time to steal away with your partner for a Mt. Etna-inspired Etna Spritz cocktail on the terrace, where you’ll sip with volcano views.

Best Hotel in Sicily

by Tadyyfore

Stay here, and splurge on a Junior Suite. We had Rm 314, a corner suite that confirmed my belief that a hotel room can be more (in this case "much more") than just a place to crash for the night. Have a look at the Jr. suite photos on-line. They capture the room pretty well, but can't do justice to it in the end. We had views of the hotel, Taormina, and the sea out two of our 11 foot tall French door, and of Mt. Etna and the bay from the 3rd French door. Exquisite. Everything else about the room, from facilities, to space, down to pillows was exquisite. We paid about $1,400/night, more than we've ever paid for a hotel room, and it was well worth it.

Charming

Very unique property situated on the hillside in Taormina. Amazingly charming suite with 2 bathrooms, living room, and bedroom all with beautiful views of the bay and Mt. Etna. Located in the village and walking distance to everything. Service friendly and exceptional throughout. Breakfast is very good. Value compared to other 5 star standout properties is very good. Bed was very comfortable with the highest quality sheets. Property grounds, pool, and gardens are beautiful and well maintained.

Not the best: It is an old hotel and does not have very good sound insulation. We were next to the housekeeping room in suite 216 and were awakened around 5am each morning by service people and clanging metal. Restaurant was good but better quality and valued meals are to be had nearby. Towels have the smell of vinegar from disinfecting laundry processing. Gym was adequate but not the best. Very few complaints. On par with the Belmond Splendido in Portofino and better than Belmond Cipriani in Venice. Belmond is very well managed and training is clearly excellent.
