A Hotel with a Heart

by Elosofamoso

I stayed in two rooms here for about a week and a half. The first was 327, which has double beds, and I stayed here by myself. The second was 328, which is a king bed right across the hall. I moved to it when my wife joined me.

The occasion was a sad one. My mother was on her death bed, and the victim of Alzheimer's.

I came by myself on a Monday in time to see her alive, though she was no longer conscious. She died on Friday of the same week, and I then made arrangements to bring my wife for the funeral.

A man, whose name I only remember as Carlos, was superb in this situation. There was also a very nice young lady, whose name I do not remember.

I told Carlos on the afternoon of my mother's death that I needed to extend my stay. When he learned why, he gave me a bereavement rate, and did his best to make arrangments to change my room.

The rooms were well equipped for a lengthy stay, and I especially appreciated the stove, large refrigerator, and microwave ovens that served me well.

On another occasion, I needed towels. I informed Carlos when I returned from making some of the funeral arrangments. Carlos ran up to find the housekeeping cart, which was actually right outside my room. I took the elevator, but he was there before I was. That is how prompt he was in helping me with my needs.

Yet, what I will rembember is the professionalism and kindness of the staff. This is hotel with a heart.
