Set your expectations right and you'll enjoy it

Unless you have a secret number and you're booking direct, good luck. The site I used did not ask for a credit card, found that odd but it gave me a confirmation number. Yup, 2 days before we arrived, they wrote an email in Spanish saying we were cancelled. Yikes! They said they tried to call me but...my phone number was listed correctly. Fortunately while in Mexico I got some help who rebooked my stay. Also, when you book direct, breakfast is not included, it is 150 pesos pp each day. The upside is that the wonderful breakfast server will get you freshly made hot chocolate and a waffle at no extra charge. The buffet is okay. The front desk let us choose our room after seeing a balcony with lots of light and a quiet room on the backside. For us, quiet is most important and the room was spacious enough with a couch and a desk. It was not as dim as other reviews indicated, I just went down to the bright courtyard to read or do extensive writing. The location is good, the price is reasonable but I was ill from Mexico city and couldn't nap due to repair noise. If afternoon siestas are important, look for a standard, upscale hotel. This is historic and needs work understandably. Front desk arranged a taxi back to the airport and it was a bit shabby but worked. Other than that, we took care of our own entertainment. Room was clean and certainly worked so I would recommend it. Easy to walk to everything although a bit of a stretch on longer days.
