The Citte del Mare Hotel Village is located on the Tyrrhenia Sea in Sicily. The resort features beautiful oceanfront swimming pools, a wellness spa, kids’ club, tennis, miniature golf and more. But the true highlight of a stay at this Italy hotel is its waterslides that go right into the ocean! Best for teens and up, the series of toboggan slides dip into wading pools before ultimately dumping riders into the ocean.
Accommodations are basic, but Wi-Fi access is included in rates. Families can opt for inclusive or all-inclusive stays at this hotel.

Nice place to stay with family. A very large village where walking is needed but nice atmosphere if you like some adventure. Pool area with constant animation all in Italian. Breakfast is very good all fresh. Dinner also all fresh and good but nothing special. It's nice especially the slides.
Start with the good.
Breakfast was good. Nice selection of pastries and cold meats. However, cheese had started to melt it had been outside so long.
Location was great. However, we had a car. Probably not very easy to get about without one!
Views were fantastic. The hotel was focussed on the view of the sea, towards the west. Perfect for sunset.
Poor customer service. The staff never smiled! Asked for a menu for the restaurant. Was told, “maybe there is one downstairs” with a shoulder shrug. There wasn’t one downstairs. When we checked out, no one ever asked whether we enjoyed our stay.
The rooms were massively outdated. We are leaving aching all over...the beds were that bad!
The whole site lacks in maintenance. From the grass and weeds being massively overgrown, to the bathrooms not being water tight, electric wires hanging out, paving slabs missing, manholes uncovered, blinds broken in the restaurant, filthy sofas in the lobby. The list goes on and on.
Now to the ugly.
We booked this hotel, like many others, mainly for the waterslides! We arrived on Saturday and were told “today is the last day”. We were annoyed, but immediately thought we’d make the most of it. Swiftly got changed, hiked (literally) down to the slides, to find they were closed. Massively disappointing. The pools leading from one slide to the other were so filthy, we would never have gone in them. The algae was so bad, that footprints had been left where people had clearly decided to use the slides. We were so disappointed.
Of the other pools, only one was open, constantly being used by groups of professional swimmers of some sort. The other big pool was also very dirty and clearly not used for a while.
We would visit a location near this hotel again, but not this hotel. Having visited a huge variety of different hotels, ranging from zero to five stars, this was by far the worst hotel I have ever visited. Max two stars! It’s such a shame, as this hotel has such fantastic potential. Get the lawnmower out, give everywhere a fresh lick of paint, sack all the staff, or give them a lesson in smiling! Prego! Solution is simple.
