Great Location Between Airport & Downtown

Easy to find, just off major exchanges, near airport & downtown. Hotel facilities are worn & dated, but rooms are spacious and comfortable. Staff very friendly, onsite bar & restaurant an added bonus. For its location, seems odd that local businesses close early evening. Be aware!

Not Impressed - Filthy Room

My family and I staying at this hotel Saturday, August 3, 2019 and we will never stay here again. We checked in and went up to our non-smoking room only to smell stale smoke the second we opened the door. We dropped our bags at the door and went down to the front desk to explain to them what we smelled. At this point, we didn't really even care if they switched out our room, we wanted them to know that it was smoked in prior to us so that when it came time for the room to be cleaned after we left, they didn't accuse us of smoking in it and charge us. They offered us a 10% discount and 2 of 4 free breakfast coupons. We went back upstairs to settle in and the room was utterly disgusting. It clearly had not been cleaned. There were sparkles of some sort and wrappers on the carpeted floor, the night tables and desk had left over something or other on them, the shower had purple "soap scum" I can only assume, the mirror had fingerprints all over it, and the pillow cases were wrinkled so bad it was clear someone had even slept in the bed. We went back downstairs to be told there are no housekeepers on staff and no other rooms available but now they would give me 50% off my room. We called around but everything reasonably priced was booked up for the night. Needless to say none of us took off our shoes or used the shower facilities. We also weren't at this point too keen on using the free breakfast coupons either - we didn't have much faith that the dishes that they would serve the food on would be clean!! Checking out was painful as well. They billed me at only the 10% discount. When I told the front desk agent what had happened, she said there was nothing she could do until she spoke to the Manager who wasn't answering his phone the 2 or 3 times that she called. I was told I was welcome to wait a few hours but then later told he wasn't in that day. I asked for a Guest Services Manager but apparently there were no managers on duty which I found really strange in a busy hotel that size. I called today and explained what had happened and the person on the front desk said she would refund me the 50%. I had already mentioned that I should never have been charged in the first place because the room was disgusting but she still only gave me the 50% (I have to wait 2-3 days to see this so we shall see if it actually happens). Oddly enough, she said that she thought she may have been the one to check me in because the story was really familiar with the complaint of a dirty room and offering free breakfast coupons, but then she looked it up and said "no, it was XXX who checked you in". Two similar stories......a coincidence, I think not.
