Overview

A good affordable option when touring colleges in upstate New York, like SUNY Oneonta and Hartwick College, this basic chain hotel is also a half-hour away from Cooperstown and the National Baseball Hall of Fame. It’s conveniently located near Interstate 88 in downtown Oneonta, within walking distance of an ethnic array of restaurants serving Japanese, Italian, Jamaican and Mexican fare.

Guestrooms either have one king bed or two double beds. You can bring in a crib or rollaway, allowing the double rooms to sleep up to five people. Every room has free Wi-Fi, a flat-screen television, and a mini-fridge. Larger suites have a king bed, as well as a fireplace, whirlpool and a seating area with a sofa bed.

The Broad Street Grill restaurant is onsite. It serves a buffet breakfast, although is it not complimentary. Other hotel amenities include a heated indoor pool and hot tub, fitness room, business center and laundry facilities.

Reviews

Polite staff, but not enough too return :-(

Pro:
Smack in the middle of Main Street. Walking distance to a variety of businesses.
Polite staff

Cons:
From the moment I entered the hotel I smelled stale air. I thought well it may just be in the lobby. Boy, I was sadly mistaken. I entered my room, I smelled a combination of stale air and stale/moldy water. Buy a scented mistifier and place them EVERYWHERE. Keep the air circulating AT ALL TIMES.

My girls wanted to go to the pool and the smell of chlorine gave me an instant headache. The surrounding area had mold in the crack. The kind of mold that you attempt to clean, but is so deeply embedded that only remodeling will eradicate it.

I wanted to find another hotel, but I was only staying a day and didn’t want to lose my money.

I won’t go back

The hotel is situated in downtown Oneonta, which is convenient for anyone interested in this formerly charming small city.
The hotel staff is accommodating.
The real issues with the hotel is it’s overall condition. The hotel really needs corporate to invest in a remodel. Lamps don’t function, the carpet is threadbare, the shower barely works and is growing mold. The towels are thin and worn and the room has an overall musty smell.
