It's great, you can bring your pet, The rooms are okay but not the cleanest. It's needs some updates. Showing it's age! The food at the bar and restaurants is always good. We've stayed here several times. We normally visit in the winter time. Hard to get a room in the summer.
The weekend started out great, then sort of fizzled. It was bound to happen after all these visits. We caught the earlier ferry from Cape May and arrived about 1pm. We were allowed to check in early, so Roxy set up shop and we went to Seacrets for lunch. The hotel was busy with lots fo check-ins and St Patrick Day's celebrators.
Saturday proved to be challenging. One elevator is being replaced, and the hotel could benefit itself by having a large lobby sign pointing to the steps saying 'express steps to the Terrace Level' with Horizons, the bar, etc. Many people simply are a teensy bit lazy and tie up the elevators for one floor while hotel guests are trying to get carts in and out. New elevators are being installed, no need for summer panic.
I did not like having to park across Coastal Highway Saturday night after dinner with so many cars without mirror tags. But what are the odds of there being a corn hole tournament on the weekend? Well pretty good apparently. Excellent late afternoon pool temperatures, water clean and warm, and the hot tub was again screamin hot. New towels arrived and all was well. Even the tv was playing this time.
Many employees were greeting after eye contact and then gave a verbal hello and welcome. The 10/5 rule is out of style, but not here. Sunday however, well we overslept and didn't wake up until 1015. I called down asked for a later check-out. We received a brash and quick response 'no I just can't do it today'. I did not expect this, but since we got in early on Friday, I could not argue. It was sort of surprising since we received a flyer under the door overnight offering to extend the stay by one night for like $69. Maybe it was $89? We had Roxy, and wanted to leave her in the room, and all we wanted to do was eat at Horizons, so I think the Clarion lost out on another $45 in revenue. I really wanted to say something at 1110am when we did drop the keys to the lady but hey things happen. We did the Fractured Prune which was Roxy approved but I would have rather have had the brunch.
The hotel offers a summer children's program, a number of fun activities and tons of nearby attractions that families and kids of all ages will love. The Clarion features an indoor heated pool, a heated outdoor pool and a health club with cardio and strength-training equipment, a steam room and sauna. Spend the day lounging by the pool, or take the family to the beach where you can splash around in the ocean, build sandcastles and soak up some rays. Beach umbrellas and lounge chairs are available for rent at the hotel.
Perfect for families visiting in the summer, the hotel offers a children's program from June through August. Kids can partake in a number of fun activities including arts and crafts, face painting, balloon animal making, swimming, beach play, body boarding, a magic show and a comedy show. All children's activities are free for guests with children staying at the Clarion Resort.
Take a stroll down the 2.5-mile-long boardwalk and check out all of the games, shopping, dining and activities it has to offer. With tons of nearby attractions and activities, kids will never bore. Here are a few of my favorites that are absolutely must do's for families:
Jolly Roger Amusement Park
Be sure to visit one of the best amusement parks in town, with tons of games and rides for everyone in the family to enjoy. Made up of six different themed parks, the Jolly Roger Amusement Park has it all. From Ferris wheels and water slides to zip lining and racecar driving, there's more than enough to keep the kids occupied for hours. The six theme parks that make up Jolly Roger include Jolly Roger at 30th Street, Jolly Roger at the Pier, Splash Mountain, Speedworld, Xtreme Ziplines and Jolly Roger Mini Golf. Each offers its own unique atmosphere and exciting activities.
Jolly Roger at 30th Street and Jolly Roger at the Pier both offer a number of exciting rides and games, including coasters, Ferris wheels, swings, twirling tea cups, bumper cars and carousels. Both offer tons of rides and games for children of all ages.
Splash Mountain is a great place for families to cool off, instead of hitting the beach or hotel pool. This huge water park features a water roller coaster, rapids, a lazy river, tube flume and a number of kiddie pools for little tykes.
Enter into the world of racing with Speedworld! Featuring a little something for everyone, enjoy thrilling rides on kiddie carts, stockcart and supertruck racing, Grand Prix Track driving and games in the video and arcade room.
Xtreme Ziplines allows you to fly through the air, 60 feet above it all! This part of the Jolly Roger Park zips you through the air, offering amazing views of the bay and ocean.
The last part of the amusement park is the Jolly Roger Mini Golf area. Choose from two different mini golf adventures, including a pirate treasure hunt or a tropical rainforest with waterfalls and peaceful lagoons.
Ocean City Water Sports
If you're looking to get the family out on the water, Ocean City Water Sports has a number of rentals and activities for all. Enjoy the view from hundreds of feet up with parasailing, zip through the water on a jet ski or enjoy a leisurely ride on a pontoon boat. Certain age and height restrictions will apply to each of these water sport activities.
If you're looking for more, there are tons of other water sport activities in the area, including kayaking, boating, fishing, surfing and boogie boarding.
Trimpers Rides and Amusements
For more than 100 years, this historic amusement park has enticed families with thrilling coasters, boardwalk games, classic carnival fare and indoor and outdoor rides for kids of all ages. Best for smaller children, indoor rides include the Merry-Go-Round, Kiddie Ferris Wheel, Water Boats and the Wild West Train ride. There's a wide range of amusement park rides in the outdoor park area for kids of all ages. Smaller children will love the Bumper Boats, Swings and Frog Hopper, while older children and teens will like the Haunted House, Zipper and Tidal Wave, a twisting, thrilling rollercoaster. The entire park is open daily from mid-June through Labor Day.
Open year-round, Planet Maze consists of an indoor maze, laser tag and mini golf. In the indoor maze, kids can climb through tubes and tunnels, whoosh down three-story slides and twist their way up rope climbs. Parents are able to assist smaller children free of charge. Lasertron is the perfect place for kids to let loose while parents relax. This indoor laser tag maze is perfect for tweens and teens, and is fully equipped with special lighting effects, fog swirls, music and lightweight vests with electronic sensors. The last part of Planet Maze is the "out of this world" Galaxy Golf. Try your luck at the course and shoot through meteors, spaceships, aliens and dark caves.
Families will love the convenient dining options the Clarion Resort offers. The hotel features three onsite dining options, including the award winning restaurant Horizons, the casual Breakers Pub and Raw Bar and the festive oceanfront grill, Lenny's Beach Bar & Grill.
Overlooking the Atlantic, Horizons is a gorgeous dining atmosphere for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Known for amazing service and great quality food, Horizons is a convenient and ideal dining option for families. For breakfast, the restaurant offers a traditional breakfast menu or an all-you-can-eat buffet. Enjoy favorites like omelets, eggs, Belgian waffles, sausage and bacon, oatmeal, bagels, pancakes, fried potatoes and assorted Danishes and muffins. The lunch menu features a variety of sandwiches, salads, delicious appetizers, pizza and burgers. For dinner, you can choose from the main menu or opt for the all-you-can-eat seafood buffet. The main menu features salads, stuffed mushrooms, shrimp cocktail, quesadillas, crab cake sandwiches, burgers, surf and turf, filet mignon and roasted vegetable pasta. My favorite is the all-you-can-eat seafood buffet, with endless crab legs, oysters and clams, pasta, chicken tenders, prime rib, fried chicken and the famous Maryland crab soup. There is a special children's menu that will satisfy even the pickiest of eaters. The children's menu features fish sticks, grilled cheese sandwiches, macaroni and cheese, cheeseburger sliders, hot dog sliders, cheese ravioli and mozzarella sticks.
Breakers Pub and Raw Bar
Breakers Pub is a relaxed, casual atmosphere, featuring signature drinks for mom and dad and a wide range of light fare. The lunch and dinner menu feature salads, sandwiches, burgers, fish and chips, vegetable pasta, crab cakes and grilled chicken.
Lenny's Beach Bar & Grill

Planning & Tips
All About the Extras
The Clarion Resort features onsite family dining, an indoor and outdoor swimming pool and fitness center with free weights, cardio machines and equipment.
Complimentary wireless Internet access is available, as well as laundry facilities, valet, dry cleaning and concierge services.
The Art of Smart Timing
Ocean City is a perfect beach destination for families, so the best time to visit is during the summer months. During these busy months, hotel rates will be at their highest, but all outdoor activities will be open and available for families to enjoy.
Hotel rates drop during the winter months when tourism in Ocean City declines. During the winter, not as many family-friendly attractions are open as in high season, but there are still things to do. Families can enjoy lights festivals, arcades, indoor rides at Trimpers Rides and Amusements, ice skating, indoor mini golf and horseback riding at the Holly Ridge Farm.
