Ocean City is Maryland’s crown jewel. Tons of families (roughly eight million, to be precise) flock to this picturesque sandy beach city every year to experience some of the best and most beautiful surf on the East Coast.
The Comfort Inn Gold Coast is an excellent option for families who want to experience the laid back, carefree lifestyle of a beach resort town, without paying the beach resort town price. The hotel is only a block away from the beach, and within walking distance to some of OCMD’s best restaurants, shops and family-friendly entertainment.
Rooms include cable TV, free high speed Internet access, a mini-fridge and microwave, a coffeemaker, and an iron and ironing board. Some rooms even include in-room hot tubs. Though there’s an abundance of things to do around the inn, guests are invited to enjoy the indoor heated pool and exercise room. There is also a Denny’s restaurant located onsite and open 24/7, as well as a laundry facility.

We stayed in the hotel in December 2017 for three nights.
Good location. We travelled by car, parking at the hotel territory is free.
Staff is polite and friendly.
The room is cosy. Comfortable large beds. Room was cleaned every day. There are a refrigerator and a coffee machine in the room. Heater worked well.
There is a small shop on the ground floor.
The beach is 5-7 minutes walk.

I had a reservation at this property for two days (last Thurs and Fri) for a quick get-away with my wife. I realized that they didn't serve breakfast (my oversight) since there's a Denny's connected. So, I asked if I could cancel without the penalty. I was told my reason wasn't sufficient and could not cancel without being charged for the first day. I called Choice Hotels and gave them another excuse to try to cancel w/o penalty. No luck. They deferred back to the property. I called CIGC back to provide a new card for the charge and was told my card on the reservation was already charged a day in advance of checking in because I gave multiple excuses for wanting to cancel. I asked for my cancellation confirmation number and the Administrative Assistant (Millie) could not provide it. I asked about their policy to cancel w/o a confirmation number. She said my confirmation number was my reservation number. I pushed back and she hung up on me. I was never rude or loud.
I called back to "officially" cancel and another lady at the front desk asked me if I wanted to keep the reservation. I told her I was confused and thought it was canceled. I then "officially" cancelled and she then gave me a confirmation number. I did not receive one when they charged my card for the first night. I called and left a message for Millie and the General Manager. Neither called me back. The FD Manager, Joe, called me back yesterday and we had a very pleasant conversation. He heard my side, explained their cancellation policy and apologized for my experience. He's the only staffer that exhibited true professionalism.
I'd never stay at this property in the future. Staff that hang up on you and can't articulate the hotel's policies should be dealt with by management.
