Charming and right in the middle of town!

by cwise3

What a lovely inn and fantastic location! The breakfasts, wine/apps and amenities were great. Parking lot was a bonus and even if the lot was full after returning from an outing, street parking didn't seem to be an issue. The housekeeping staff and those responsible for setting up and clearing the appetizer hour and breakfast were kind and were a pleasure. The only thing very out of place was our experience with one front desk young lady who checked us in and was there the next day. We were hardly welcomed--there was no smile, and maybe there was a half-hearted "hi" only after I greeted her. I'm not sure if she is just shy, or was ill, but there was no "welcome" feeling when we arrived and no real communication about the inn (we did remember most listed on the website, but little things like ice location, hot tub location or hours, letting us know that there was actually a room fan in the closet --the rooms were sooo hot from the weather--or any type of small talk about the town or our visit was strangely absent.) Frankly after that initial encounter, I was a little worried about how the rest of experience at the inn would be.Thankfully it was a very nice stay with good accommodations, in a great walk-able town.

Heart of Carmel

We stayed for one night as part of our trip down Highway 1. Room was spacious and clean with a nice big bathroom. The cookies, wine and hors d’oeuvres in the afternoon were a lovely touch and the breakfast was delicious (especially the eggs) Karen? on reception was very friendly and welcoming. The hotel is in a great location and it is easy to walk around Carmel and down to the beach. This was our third stay in Carmel and we will definitely stay at the Coachman's Inn if we are lucky enough to return one day.
