Ideal for a family of four or five, this reliable hotel offers a standard room with two double beds plus plenty of space for a rollaway or crib if you need another bed. Each spacious room contains a refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker, but you also have the convenience of grabbing a meal at Courtyard’s onsite restaurant, The Bistro. Breakfast at The Bistro isn’t free, but can easily be included in a room package. There are plenty of other fast food and casual breakfast options in the area around the hotel, many of which are within walking distance. Kids will love the outdoor pool and patio, where parents will welcome a lounge chair in the shade. Other amenities include free Wi-Fi, a fitness center, laundry service, and free coffee and tea in the lobby.
This Courtyard is located near the Abilene Mall in the southern part of the city, so shopping and dining choices are plentiful. Downtown Abilene, with its wonderful array of museums, quirky shops, and trendy restaurants, is an easy 10-minute drive to the north. Kids will love visiting Frontier Texas, a new museum that cleverly uses new technologies to make history come alive. Families will also enjoy getting a close-up view of giraffes, alligators, and more at the nearby Abilene Zoo. Your hotel puts you close to fishing fun at Kirby Lake, nature trails at Abilene State Park, and the pioneer experience of Buffalo Gap Historic Village. For a convenient, contemporary hotel, the Courtyard makes a great choice for your big family trip to Abilene.

I can’t quite get to a “very good” rating for this one. But it’s not exactly bad either.
I didn’t have any specific problems or issues, but I wasn’t wowed or impressed with my one night stay.
I was in Abilene for business and stayed Wednesday to Thursday. I received early check in...benefits of the brand as opposed to this property.
Check in was good, the woman was pleasant and cheerful, but not especially helpful or uniquely welcoming. It was a canned welcome and that’s not a complaint, but it’s average at best.
The room was clean...but when I jumped in the shower, I found a VERY long, black hair! While I know this doesn’t necessarily equate to dirty, It really stuck out in the all white tub/shower, so it’s hard to believe that cleaning staff missed it.
I also question why these hotels still have the tub/shower combo with the gross shower curtain??
The bed was comfy and temperature was fairly well regulated in the room (outside temps were in low 80s).
There was some noise in the hallways late Wednesday night, I found it unusual, but not horrible.
Additionally, I visited the bistro/bar on Wednesday evening....they advertised a happy hour for early in the evening then again between 9p & 10p....The bar is small, with a single employee...the problem is she was VERY busy preparing for the next morning...restocking, setting things out, etc....so she wasn’t friendly, she disappeared for 5-10 minutes at a time...another guest showed up and, after waiting a few minutes, asked me if anyone was still working the bar.
There was another employee that seemed to be “off”, she was visiting with a boyfriend (?) and would go to the back occasionally...that was just odd. I got an inexpensive glass of wine, but the lack of friendly customer service and distraction of the other employee was off-putting & definitely not welcoming. It didn’t make me WANT to stay, unwind and get another glass.
The hotel is right across the street from a mall (bleak, boring mall), and is an easy walk from several basic restaurants (Wingstop, Mexican food, burgers). However I found it very odd that there are NO sidewalks around this area...that makes for a rough walk for sure.
Overall, this was an average hotel in an average area. I’d probably stay again, with very limited expectations.
