The Crane’s Rest B&B is a beautiful home at the end of a long gravel road high up in the hills above Kachemak Bay. Head for the old town area to play on Bishop’s Beach and walk the nature trail through the wetlands to the Alaska Islands and Ocean Visitor Center. Kids can learn about the variety of sea animals in Kachemak Bay and surrounding preserves. After that, drive out onto the Homer Spit to explore the quirky shops along the harbor. Homer is the Halibut Fishing Capital of the World, and this is the place to find a fishing charter to try your hand at catching one. There are also whale watching cruises, kayak rentals, bear viewing flights and more.
