Overview

While some guests may not appreciate wild burros showing up outside their rooms at 3 a.m., it will likely be a memorable treat for families with kids. Though previous guests have been less than impressed with the rooms, the low price compared to hotels inside Death Valley National Park often makes up for it. Kids may not care about outdated rooms once they see the pool. Also, kids stay free.

Just Ok!

We were greeted by the burros outside the Inn, and a pretty cat near the entrance. When we asked where to eat dinner after checking in, the front desk man said Denny's was "the only place to eat" in town. There is a Mel's Diner, but not open for dinner. Also, you need to have cash since many of the places on the road in Nevada are "cash only." To get to the Denny's you had to walk through cigarette smoke from the casino, so we chose not to go there. There isn't much in town, a candy/ice cream store, a dollar store, an Arco gas station. We chose buying frozen food at the dollar store to microwave in our room. A bit disappointing but "when in Rome!" BTW, the cashier in the Dollar Store told us "never go to Denny's!" Back at the hotel, there were only 3 pillows on the bed, so we asked at the desk for more, but were told they didn't have any since tourists "took them." We found a hotel maid and she was very kind to drop off 2 more for us. There was also a shortage of towels but she was also able to bring two more. We also had to buy more tissues since the room was very low and we didn't want to keep asking. Other than lacking those supplies, the beds are comfortable and everything else about the room was okay. My husband did hear the man in the next room snoring all night. The shower was a good one. Just don't expect the Hampton Inn.

Great place on the desert.

We have stayed here many times on our way south to Arizona. Rooms are always clean and up to date. No breakfast but we usually get on the road early and take a breakfast in LasVegas. We don't do pools anymore at our age but it looks great.
