Very Convenient!

Stayed here with a tour group. Not many great choices in this rather isolated area. Room was nothing special, but fully met our needs — clean. Had dinner and breakfast in their dining room — both very good. Only a short drive to Masada. Good choice in this area.

Pros and Cons

by Saar S

My wife and I stayed a night at the Ein Gedi hotel.
We ordered the night at the Ein Gedi hotel and not at the nearby hostel (where we stayed before and enjoyed it) because the hostel was fully booked.
We received the room we ordered – a standard room. This room description at the hotel site says: "The Standart rooms invite you to take a relaxing vacation amid large lawns, unique trees, and a wealth of flowers and shrubs".

Well…Cons first:
1. Relaxing, except for the time there is a bus waiting with engine on at the parking in front of your room (the room we had was very close to the lobby).
2. Lawns / A private balcony surrounded by gorgeous gardens – Not in front of our room. Our room was one in a row of several rooms with shared front. In front of our rooms we had a cheap plastic table and chairs (2). Between our room and the parking we had a paved road used by motorized (not all electrical) utility vehicles.
3. Trees, flowers etc. – The Ein Gedi kibbutz, where the hotel is located, has a unique Botanic garden, very well kept and maintained. Unfortunately, once you cross the line separating the kibbutz from the hotel, you feel the neglect and leak of maintenance.
4. There is a main issue with flies in the hotel.
5. The price is about twice the price of the nearby hostel that gives a better value for your money.
6. Hotel restaurant is very far from the lobby/rooms and there almost no shuttles available.

Pros:
1. The room is fairly clean.
2. Dinner and breakfast are great.
3. The reception guy (Mahmud I think) was most welcoming.

To summaries:
Some competition might do well for the hotel. If these are the standard rooms, they should stop promoting them to clients, especially not with these prices.
