We had a great time at this hotel for July 4th weekend. The location was right in the thick of the city celebration. The rooms are clean and well appointed. The only reason I knocked off a star was the elevators are a big pain as other people mentioned. Also the breakfast didn’t have enough cold cereal and fruit options and gets super crowded.
Was in town to visit our son; booked room at this hotel due to location. Fabulous view from the balcony; loved being in the middle of things regarding 4th of July related activities; watched the fireworks from the balcony. Had a MAJOR problem with billing; had to pay extra to get access to the balcony that was already part of the room (weird...); one of the front desk clerks mistakenly charged the wrong rate; several different amounts were charged at several different times; this back and forth activity was flagged by the bank; had to cancel our card on the second day and didn't have access to our cash in that account. VERY INCONVENIENT, specifically since we had planned a day trip to NY; got the manager's card from the front desk; gave him a call and left a message regarding this matter; even sent an email, but the manager didn't respond. Finally got everything sorted when we checked out 5 days later; spoke to the manager who indicated that he didn't respond that day because he "was off" and delegated the matter to his assistant, who didn't bother to respond either. Aside from this blunder, we truly enjoyed our stay; the lady who cleaned our room, Gwen, was very nice; the guy who met us at the door to take our breakfast tickets, George, was like a breath of fresh air. All the other staff members/employees we came into contact with/spoke in the hall or on the elevator were very pleasant as well and we certainly appreciated that. Would like to commend the hotel on the manager's reception each evening; decent refreshments; free drinks; nice relaxing atmosphere. Note, I would suggest a measure of patience for the guests who stay at this hotel - the elevators are just plain weird; not sure of the history behind this, but I am sure there was a "method to the madness." Aside from our billing issues, we had a great stay at the Embassy Suites!
