Best hotel in sterling

This was an excellent hotel. Arrived for a family wedding and took 14 rooms. Staff accomodated everyone. Staff went out of their way to make sure everyone was comfortable. Staff set up tables outside on common area for a meet and greet and were very friendly to do so. Breakfast changed each morning and was excellent. Hotel rooms are roomy, clean, and just enjoyable. They included microwaves and fridge which were bonuses. This was a first class experience. Everything ran smoothly with the help of ALL the staff. Will stay again.

Disappointing Hampton Inn

Booked a two queen bed room with late checkout for one night. Email confirmation did not show late checkout. Had to call to correct. My wife and I almost always stay at Hampton Inn but this was the first time for this one which was two miles from my son's place of residence. The hotel foyer was clean and well furnished. The check in clerk was efficient but not as friendly as we've come to expect from other stays at Hampton Inns. He also did not ask or mention if we were Hilton Honors members. We were surprised when we saw guests with dogs since we had not seen animals allowed at any other Hampton Inns we had stayed in. I also wondered about the hotel having a basketball court on the premises. Our room was on the fourth floor and was well furnished and super clean. It was at the end of the hall as I had requested by I was not aware that the room overlooked the basketball court and a patio between it and the inside pool. There were people on the patio who we could hear talking and I finally called the front desk at 11PM to ask when it would stop. The voices did stop after my call. My wife and I felt the beds to be too firm. The one I slept on nearest the outer wall was also a bit lumpy. Pillows were too soft. We have not had this problem with beds and pillows at other Hampton Inns. I slept very little that night as I could not find a comfortable spot. The hot breakfast the next morning was excellent with lots of choices. Upon returning to our room around 07:30AM, we heard a dog barking in a room a few doors away and it continued to bark until we checked out around 10:30AM. We could also hear people playing basketball. I mentioned the dog barking to the clerk when we checked out and he stated that they had four other complaints. The hotel clerk stated they had tried to locate the owner without any luck. Based upon our being able to hear people on the ground outside even though we were on the fourth floor, the too firm beds, the soft pillows, and especially the fact that the management allows animals in the rooms, we will not be returning to this particular Hampton Inn. The number one mission of a hotel is a good night's sleep and this hotel failed in this aspect. I would have made this review 3 1/2 stars if it was a selection.
