Disappointing Experience

by becbobian

The hotel & room were clean, comfy, roomy, and well-decorated. The breakfast was delicious with many options. The views from the hotel are very nice. The pool was unusable, but I understand things happen.. But... the reason you stay at a hotel is primarily to have a place to sleep... and that’s where this hotel was lacking. I booked a room for 5 people with 2 queen beds, and in the hotel info it clearly stated rollaway cots were available. That is a lie. There was plenty of room to place a cot, but they stated they couldn’t do that because it was a fire hazard. They said the max occupancy of the room was 5, and that’s why it was booked that way, but there was no place to sleep the 5th. We attempted to call multiple numbers to resolve the issue after the front desk person told us point-blank it’s not his problem, it’s our fault we booked it that way, and there’s nothing they would do. The hotel was full so they couldn’t move us to a room with a sofa. So my son had to sleep in the chair/desk chair shoved together (only options left to us were that or the floor). If my children weren’t so exhausted we would have absolutely attempted to find a different hotel. Very unhappy about this experience... I try to focus on positives and hate to leave negative reviews, but the way this was booked and lack of concern from mgmt about finding a solution was very upsetting.

Nice view

This hotel sits on top of a nice mountain so the views in the morning are great! There are a few restaurants (chains and locals) very close by this hotel. The morning continental breakfast was great with fresh squeezed juices and smoothies. The room layout for the 1 bed King and pull out couch was weird, with the TV in and awkward viewing place. Otherwise I would highly recommend if you are staying in Elkins or passing through.
