Cool Pacific Breezes

by James V

I saw that Hard Rock had opened a new resort in Los Cabos. I couldn't wait to try it. It's an easy flight from Las Vegas and you are there on the sand in a few hours. This resort opened July 19th so it's brand new and I couldn't wait to explore it and hoping for something special. I was not disappointed at all. Yes, it's new and yes, they have some rough spots and work to be done but it's a gorgeous setting in a somewhat remote area. It's 45 minutes from the airport so not like a lot of resorts in that area. It's most importantly, on the Pacific and not the Sea of Cortez so the weather is different with the cooling breezes coming off the Pacific mixing with the hot and dry peninsula weather leaving just a perfect temperature and this was August. The staff is new but so eager to please you. The Rock Royalty check in was with Abel and he couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. The Rock Royalty lounge wasn't open yet so they are using a spot behind the main check in counter. The overall resort is a bit spartan since it's really not totally completed. They memorabilia which is endemic in a Hard Rock was anemic at best. I suspect they will be adding a whole lot more as time goes by. The resort is quite large but again, that's typical for The Hard Rock. It's spacious and on a great many levels. The lobby is on the third floor and the beach access the first floor. The rooms go up to I believe level seven. It's built to maximize the views and I would guess most rooms to have an ocean view. Interestingly, the gorgeous and huge sandy beach is only for sitting, walking and looking as you cannot swim as they say it's too dangerous. The waves for formidable and a shore break. An experienced swimmer could handle it but the average tourist would be in some serious trouble. My room was large, spacious and very nicely appointed. Excellent bed and more than I would have expected. Nicely furnished and great wifi that you simply sign on to. That wifi is available throughout the resort with no issues. I had a swim up pool suite and I have to admit it was lovely. I would get that same room every time as I enjoyed it so much. The spa and health facilities are excellent as well. I used the gym every day and I found it to be quite adequate and had most everything I needed. They said they are still receiving more equipment as it's simply not completed as of now. If I were to change anything I would have had windows that would take advantage of the view which they sadly, didn't have. The food was quite outstanding and I enjoy every meal. Moreover, the wait staff were first class and truly offered service with a smile and genuinely wonderful people. I had Jose serve me at, The Market buffet in the morning and he couldn't have been nicer or more competent. At the Rock Royalty pool I had Erikka serve me and she was just such a sweetheart and again, genuinely happy to handle all of your needs. I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will be returning again and again. They did have a few issues that need to be resolved and one was if you left the door open to the patio and the swim up pool the slick tile floors in the room would condense the moisture out of the air and become quite wet and slippery. The patio decking is the same material and when you exit the pool you have to be careful not to slip. I spoke with the architect and she said they are planning on cutting grooves into the tile on the patio as to not have any slipping due to wet feet and tile. I think they are going to have to post signs in the room saying not to leave the sliding door open to the patio to avoid wet floors. So a few bugs to iron out but well worth your time and money to visit. I truly did have a good time.

Great service!

I had Uriel Alfredo as a server at the Caffeto Restaurant. He was awesome and made any meal I ordered simplified and served me with great pleasure. Hands down a great server and benefit to the hard rock. Thanks again my friend!
