Middle Way Cafe, Lucky Wishbone and Stuart Anderson’s Cattle Co are all family-friendly restaurants that are notable and are close to the hotel.

I am a Diamond member and travel each week. We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Anchorage September 8-12 with my parents and had issues the moment we checked in. The room we were given had an odor and I went and asked if we could have a different room. We didn't immediately move our stuff to the new room as we had an appointment we had to get to. The hotel agreed to allow me to keep the original room we were given and gave me keys to the new room so that when we got back we could move. We returned a couple hours later and stopped by the new room on the way up to the old room and I left my jacket with my phone in the room. We then went up to our old room and got our stuff and began moving to the new room. When we got to the new room our room key wouldn't work. I went to the front desk and after a little investigation found they had rented our room out and the person had gone into the room. The front desk had to go up and knock on the door to get my stuff back. They then asked me if I wanted to stay in my original room! No I said, so they reassigned me. The second issue happened the day we were checking out. We wanted to take the shuttle to the train station and asked through out the week what the process was for the shuttle we received a consistent message from different people. The day we were checking out i came down early as instructed and stated we wanted the shuttle and the same front desk person (Yolanda) stated you have to leave now. I said, but not all of us are here and she said you need to leave now as it won't come back and get you and take you where you wanted. I said that is not what I was told and she said those people are wrong. I turned to my husband and asked him to go talk to the shuttle driver. he did and the shuttle driver said he was going to the airport but would come back and get us. The 2nd front desk person stepped in and began to take over. She was very helpful and offered to get us a taxi and have the hotel pay for it. I said no as the shuttle driver promised to come back and get us and take us where we wanted. I have since called the hotel manager Erik Mendoza 2 times and emailed him and he has yet to reach out. I would not recommend this hotel based on the front desk service.
Great accommodations with amenities within short drive. Hotel staff very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Breakfast buffet made to order omelets very good and servers attentive. Indoor pool very nice.
