Overview

The Historic Powhatan continues the historical Colonial atmosphere with Manor House — a restored landmark building from the 1700s. The resort’s rolling acres of wooded property feature indoor and outdoor pools, hot tubs, tennis courts, a pavilion, a vibrant playground and several hiking trails. Families can stay in three-bedroom units with private balconies, washer/dryer units, lofts and hot tubs. Modern rooms are equipped with DVD players, air conditioning and coffeemakers. One- and two-bedroom suites are also available. Rooms are colorful with sitting areas and fireplaces. A couple of onsite restaurants offer American and International dishes for all meals. A game room, miniature golf course and gift shop are onsite. Offsite, families can spend a fun-filled day at the nearby Busch Gardens. Colonial Williamsburg is three miles away.

SURPRISE, SURPRISE......

by scottboyd911

My wife and I just happened to be driving by the Powhatan Resort on Iron bound Road in Williamsburg and drove in not knowing what to expect, and what a surprise. Beautiful grounds and charming rental units. We had lunch at their Grill & Bar and while the ambiance was nothing super special, it was nice with with very cordial servers. I had a Caesar salad with BLACKENED TUNA on top, and it was some of the best blackened Tuna I have EVER had. SURPRISE, SURPRISE.....We will definitely go back since we're in the area quite a bit. I would love to try some of their other selections, and see if their as great as what we had on our first visit.

Although the resort is very nice, I rated it a 3 because of the mandatory $19.95 plus tax daily fee. I think this is an outrageous amount for those of us who are not interested in any of the activities or amenities. There should be a way of opt out if we choose not to utilize any of the activities.
