People who read my reviews know. I do not give away five ratings easily. This hotel got one with ease and I'd give it six or even seven if i could. Wow! I have traveled all over the world and this is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed. I'm not telling you to brag. I'm telling you I have been to hundreds. HUNDREDS of hotels, motels, fleabag dumps, Was that placed condemned? places I've stayed in my 50 years of traveling. We arrived a little early for our 3 pm check-in. We were there for a wedding that was actually at the hotel that night. No problem. Go right up sir. Beautiful room on the second floor corner overlooking the bar area. And it was a warm, sunny late September afternoon. It was packed. Could nary hear a sound. Light, airy, spacious, modern. Just great. Check the bed. Outstanding. Not hard as the floor and not where you fall to the ground soft either. Yes. Perfect. Got dressed for cocktail hour downstairs at the wedding and as I said, the hotel was packed. Two other weddings were going on and they have a massive bar/restaurant attached to the front of the hotel that was already hopping. Walked into the cocktail area and it was decorated for.. what else? The Beach. The amount of appetizers and hors d'oeuvres was staggering. The bar? Top notch. They had just about anything you wanted. Now. I'm not reviewing the wedding. I'm reviewing the wedding the hotel put on. Sure it changes with price and packages. But I knew they did not pay high bucks for this soiree, so this was the hotel putting on an excellent show. five stars. Moving into the wedding venue we were again staggered. Beautiful. Rustic. Stone walls with wood beamed ceiling. Huge gas fireplace at the front of the room. Terrific. The service by the way from the minute I walked in the door was tremendous. Very nice people. After the wedding we moved to the attached bar/restaurant that is huge and has a pretty large outdoor area as well. It was 11 pm when we got outside to the outdoor bar. We were able to get a drink, but they were closing. But there are two bars inside within close proximity to the outside seating area. One is a pub/tap bar and the other a wine/liquor bar. Later on I went over to the wine bar and by chance asked if they had any Port. The man gave a quizzical look and then went to the back of the bar. Ten minutes later he came out with a bottle of Fonseca Tawny. Good man. We were able to move our little party out to the other side of the hotel where they had a huge firepit with ten Adirondack chairs around it. We were out there until 2 Am. Keeping our voices down and no one roused us. We cleaned up after ourselves as well. When they respect you. Return the favor. Easy check out the next morning. Just a perfect stay.
