Good Location for Homecoming

by Kevin F

Hotel is well located if you’re in town for UD Homecoming (or any football game for that matter.) quick drive to campus as well. Free breakfast was well stocked. Room could have used some freshening up, including broken vent over microwave. But overall, good value for the location.

Needs a major renovation!

We arrived at 6pm and our room was not ready. We were told that if we had arrived earlier that we wouldn't have had to wait for a room but they were short on help and first come first served even though we had reserved with a credit card. So upon checking in my mother had to swipe her card and sign for the room and I noticed that the price was different from the one on the reservation. When I questioned it, (it was an additional $30) we were told all the hotels do this, in case you charge something to the room they just don't tell you and it comes off in the morning when you check out. I did not find any mention of this on the hotel website. So the room we were given was a 2 bedroom handicapped suite which was just finished being cleaned. So here is the list of issues we encountered in this room: for a non handicapped person the shower is terrible, the water just runs out all over the bathroom floor because the curtain is about 1 foot too short and the little lip on the floor does nothing to stop the water. We ended up using the other bathroom to shower after using up all the towels to soak up the water. The sink was cracked and the sink drain moved really slow. The bed was situated in the room so the one side was up against (maybe 2 inches) the heat vent (it stuck out about 3 x 3 from the wall) so sleeping on that side of the bed you had to slide about 3 ½ feet to get in or out of bed. The smoke detector is placed on the ceiling above the tv in the bedroom, it blinks a flash of white about every 30 seconds, my smoke detectors in my house don’t do this, I don’t understand why they would install something like this in a bedroom…one last item the living room furniture was falling apart and needed a complete overhaul.
