Great hotel in a quieter part of a busy village

by Alan R

We stayed at the Hotel Gletschergarten after hiking part of the Via Alpina trail across Switzerland. The hotel is a little out of the bustling centre of the village, but that is actually a benefit, and there is a free yellow bus service to and from the village if you want to use it. The hosts were amazing, arranging and booking our excursion by train, bus and cable cars to the Schilthorn at the far end of the Lauterbrunnen valley, which went seamlessly. And when we had to leave, they provided a transfer for us (and our luggage!!) by car to the train station. We are going to stay here again next year when we return to complete the Via Alpina trek.

Amazing Experience

We were first greeted by a super friendly couple who owned the hotel and made us feel right at home. We had a corner room on the 3rd floor with a balcony in which you could sit out and enjoy the beautiful view of the glacier. It was so convenient to be able to buy your cable car and train tickets right at the hotel. They were so helpful in helping us plan some hikes and excursions. It was a easy walk to the bakery where you could buy your lunch for the day and restaurants were not too far away neither if you wanted different menu for supper. The breakfast was suburb with such a variety of fruits, breads, cheeses, cereals ,yogurts & juices and more. We would highly recommend this Alpine gem . They will even pick-you up and drop you off at the train station.
