Mediocre, not actually a good deal!

by labetanita

I booked this hotel through a 3rd party website for what I thought was a good price, even without breakfast included. I specifically booked it for the spa access, however the site I booked through didn’t clarify that the access is not free, and we were not able to take advantage of discounted rates since we didn’t book them at the same time. For 2 people, to go on 2 days would have been €36 just to use the thermal circuit. I had never encountered this before and we were really disappointed as we arrived after a 200km motorcycle ride and had really been looking forward to the jacuzzi and steam room. I didn’t get breakfast, but I can say that for €14 each you can easily just walk to a local cafe and enjoy a made to order breakfast and coffee. The check in had a hard time finding my reservation even after I showed them my confirmation - the room had been put in my boyfriends name for whatever reason despite the fact that I made the booking and paid with my credit card listing him as the additional guest. Parking also was not included, which wasn’t clear to me, but we were able to find a spot on the street easily in early November. The guy at the front desk also told me we had been upgraded, and honestly I’m sad for whoever got the more budget room because there wasn’t really anything great about the room. We found it with 2 twin beds just pushed together and had to have maintenance and housekeeping come make them together which was awkward and just annoying after the whole check in and spa situation. No robes in the room, not particularly clean in the bathroom... I wish I had picked a different hotel honestly or stayed at Som Ars Magna where we stayed our first 2 nights!

Wouldn’t return

Stayed here on a 4 night break with my husband. Room just about ok, however I was surprised there was no iron in the room. In fact you had to pay for ironing services! Really?! Absolutely ridiculous!
The shower seal was broken (reported this and to be fair this was fixed the next day). Safe wouldn’t open one day with all of our important belongings inside! This also got resolved quickly.
The balcony was not really a balcony, felt more like a cell, no view, just sad and depressing. We didn’t spend any time out there!
Sink also clogged but could not be bothered to complain again! Do these rooms not get inspected before the next guest??
Breakfast hit and miss, egg chef sometimes there and sometimes not! Also on our last day there were no tables set up, so we actually had to set our own! Not one person working there acknowledged this! Disgraceful! The entire time we were there not one greeting from reception staff.
The spa is not good! I wouldn’t mind paying the 9 euro, however not everything was working and there was no hot water to make tea with despite the abundance of tea bags! Spa staff should also remind guests that spas are meant to be relaxing, they are not a public swimming baths which some of the guests seemed to think, so loud!!!
We didn’t even get asked how our stay was when we checked out, the hotel staff obviously don’t really care!
I was pleased we were only staying for 4 nights.
