Built in 1996, IBEROSTAR Bávaro Suites welcomes families to enjoy a vacation overlooking the soft, white sands of Playa Bávaro and the turquoise waters of the Caribbean. In 2015, the property renovated all of its rooms, allowing it to expand its room categories to include new family suites and junior spa suites. These accommodations are ideal for a relaxing getaway with the kids.
For kids on the go, though, IBEROSTAR Bávaro Suites offers more than enough to keep them entertained. Splash your day away in the lagoon-style swimming pool, the surf along the beach or at the kids splash park. Or enjoy some of the many activities located throughout the property, or offered through the kids’ or teen clubs. Of course, no day is complete without an evening of entertainment, including the nightly show held in the theater.
IBEROSTAR Bávaro Suites also keeps your appetite satisfied by offering meals at six different restaurants that include Japanese, Cajun and Mediterranean cuisine. In fact, there’s not much families won’t find at this all-inclusive resort. They just have to find the time to enjoy it all!

We wanted to stay along the waterfront within walking distance of restaurants and the concert we were going to attend. Based on the favourable reviews I had pretty much decided to book a stay at Canal Park Lodge and as I oft do, went to their website for more information where I saw a promotion for Canadian visitors. I'm glad I did because when I called, the rate blew other hotel booking sites out of the water so I booked immediately!
The waterfront area can be tricky to navigate but my GPS took an easy way and we arrived without any confusion. Andy greeted us and checked us in.. fast, efficient and helpful with directions where to park (free parking) and to our room, which was spacious, clean and overlooked the water and beautiful waterfront. Later on our way out Marissa helped me with directions to the restaurant and gave me useful techy help on how to use google maps without using data (for Canadians it is ridiculously expensive!) . When we got back to the hotel after dinner and concert, we were happy to see the pool area was open until midnight so we decided to warm up in the hot tub.
Breakfast (included in the stay) offered a variety of coffee blends and fruit juices, choice of farmhouse omelets, bacon, cheesy hash browns, and assortment of cereals, yogurt and fruit as well as a waffle station (my choice). I didn't catch his name, but also appreciated the young man refilling breakfast items when I asked him about ingredients.
We both enjoyed the decor of the front fireplace sitting area and the open space on waterfront side. Had we more time we would have taken the time to enjoy it more. We'd love to see the view and enjoy the waterfront and outdoor patio during the summer and fall so definitely will be putting this on the must stay again list!

I have stayed at Canal Park Lodge in Duluth a few times and when my son was hospitalized and then had therapy the hotel was the logical place to stay. The management (Becky) and the entire staff is top notch. They really took care of me and my family and I am deeply gratified. They are simply the best and recommend anyone to make their business or pleasure reservation at Canal Park Lodge. You will not regret it.
